Happy national beer day!
I’m celebrating this wonderful holiday with a very special beer, the Founders KBS.
I had the privilege of obtaining this rare artifact, yesterday at my favorite shop. It’s considered a rare brew because it is only brewed once a year. I got lucky finding a bottle. The bartender revealed that they only received a small batch of it and that the entire northeast Ohio area received four kegs. That’s it.
Founders KBS is a bourbon barrel-aged chocolate coffee stout This imperial stout was brewed with a ton of coffee and chocolate, it was then aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year.
It has an ABV of 12.3% and it sure tastes like it. The coffee taste is evident and the bourbon aftertaste is wonderful. I didn’t taste too much chocolate, though. It’s a little dark for my liking but I really appreciate this beer. Because of the bourbon, it went down smooth and had a bite.
I knew I had to try it and I’m glad I did. It was dark and flavorful and even though I usually don’t drink stouts, I would get this one again.
So, if you see one of these, don’t hesitate to snag it. You won’t regret it.
