National Wine Day

May 25th is National Wine Day! That means it’s socially acceptable to grab a glass at 10 am, right? If you work from home you can, cheers!

Are you more Red or White?

I, myself, prefer white wine. If you’ve read my previous posts, this would make sense as I love the sweeter, fruitier drinks. The sweeter the better! I love a good sweet Reisling. To me, they have a crisp nectar flavor and a dainty floral scent.

Riesling was created in the Rhine wine region of Germany dating back to at least 1435. It could probably be found earlier. First references of this wine associated it with the high noble court of Count John IV of Katzenelnbogen. Let me tell you, I always feel noble and fancy when I drink Riesling.

Riesling has a wonderful balance of acidity and sugar and that makes it very versatile when it comes to pairing it with food. Rieslings are also very light which adds to its versatility. You can pair it with fish or pork or even Chinese food! (I mean, I wouldn’t, but that’s a personal preference. If you’re curious, give it a try)

I’m going to celebrate this wonderful holiday by cracking open a bottle of wine and enjoying the day. How are you celebrating?

Please drink responsibly and have a great Memorial Day!
