Will you be my valentine?

Happy Valentine’s Day! There are still a few days before the Hallmark Holiday and I figured I’d share some of my favorite romance inspired drinks.

Here are five drinks that fit the theme of love. Go ahead and make them for your valentine, but remember, love potions only exist in Harry Potter.

The Princess Shot

For your pretty princess, it tastes like a strawberry starburst

  • 1/2 shot of vodka
  • 1/4 shot of watermelon pucker
  • 1/4 shot of whiskey sour mix

Strawberry Shortcake Mimosa

A creamy delicious drink to start your day off right

  • A few strawberries
  • Finely crushed Nilla wafers
  • Strawberry ice cream
  • Vanilla vodka
  • bottle Champagne
  • Whipped cream

Run a sliced strawberry around the rim of Champagne flutes. Dip each rim in Nilla crumbs. Into each flute, drop 1 tablespoon strawberry ice cream, then add 1-ounce vodka and top with Champagne. Top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of Nilla crumbs, and a strawberry for garnish. Serve.

Scarlet O'Hara

Everyone knows that Gone With the Wind is one of the most romantic movies of all time, right?

  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • Dash of lime juice
  • 6 ounces cranberry juice
  • Garnish with a lime wedge

Pour the Southern Comfort, lime juice and cranberry juice into a shaker with ice, and shake well. Strain into a sour or Collins glass.

Sex in the Driveway

We all know the night is going to end in a little hanky panky, so why wait?

  • 1 ounce peach schnapps
  • 1 ounce blue curaçao
  • 2 ounces vodka (or white rum)
  • Sprite

Put crushed ice in a highball glass and pour in the ingredients, in order, ending by topping it off with Sprite. Stir and serve.

Single Lady Sangria

We can't forget our single friends! Mix all these ingredients together and serve chilled.

  • 1  750 mL bottle rosé
  • 1 1/2 c. seltzer
  • 1/2 c. pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 c. vodka
  • 1/4 c. raspberry liqueur
  • 1 c. sliced strawberries
  • 1 c. raspberries

If you have more drinks in mind for this wonderfully romantic holiday, please send them my way! Odds are, my wonderful boy and I won't celebrate until a later date (work sucks) so I'll have plenty of time to try all kinds of drinks to decide what to spoil him with. 😉
And always remember to drink responsibly.
